The tour industry is in a serious growth mode which means considerably more products for you to pick from. The following is a snapshot of some of the new 2019 products as provided by Vacation Agent magazine’s December issue.
ABERCROMBIE & KENT - “Vietnam: A Nation Revealed,” offering a look at the contrast between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and a cruise to the less frequently visited parts of Ha Long Bay; and “Ireland: Splendors of the Emerald,” featuring a before-hours tour of the Old Library at Dublin’s Trinity College, a visit to a local chocolatier, a Guinness and Galway oyster pairing and dinner, and a homecooked lunch at a dairy farm.
ADVENTURES BY DISNEY - A record 21 river cruise departures on three European rivers—the Danube and Rhine rivers, and, new for next year, the Seine River in France.
—Expanded line-up of Short Escape vacations, including new options in Boston, London and Vancouver. These are two- to four-night adventures that can be booked as stand-alone getaways or as add-ons.
AFRICAN TRAVEL - Eight new itineraries, several enhanced journeys and a new destination: Zambia. A “Delta, Rivers and Falls” program visits Botswana and Zambia and includes a safari at Chief’s Island.
AVANTI - Avanti Journeys, air-inclusive multi-country FIT vacations, with fixed itineraries, including roundtrip air from the U.S.
—Nearly 100 new food/drink/culinary experiences.
CIE TOURS INTERNATIONAL - New tours featuring Iceland and Italy, with all excursions included in the rates, and an option to combine Iceland and Ireland in an itinerary.
—New “Lochs, Luck and Lore” family vacations combining Scotland and Ireland.
COLLETTE - An Explorations line of 20-plus tours featuring immersive experiences that delve beyond the surface of destinations, including Italy, France, Switzerland, Northern Spain and more
DELTA VACATIONS - Agents can now add private tours to Delta Vacations hotel bookings in several Mexico and Caribbean destinations. All private tours include entrance fees, tour guides and pick-up at hotels in air-conditioned vehicles.
G ADVENTURES - New Wellness product line in 10 destinations across the Americas, Europe and Asia, with the first departures next June. Trips range from seven to 13 days and couple sight-seeing activities with yoga sessions, healthy food choices, and local healing and mindfulness rituals.
GLOBUS - Following the launch of “Undiscovered Italy” tours in 2018, Globus and Cosmos are unveiling “Undiscovered” programs to Britain, offering explorations of hidden gems in England, Wales and Scotland.
GOGO VACATIONS - The operator can now book Japan Rail tickets and passes, and GOGO Vacations can complete the full itinerary. Asia itineraries have been greatly expanded.
INSIGHT VACATIONS - Five new journeys to Greece, Malta and Scandinavia, including “Northern Lights of Scandinavia” (high probability of seeing the celestial display); and “Easy Pace Malta,” a six-day excursion with visits to markets, gardens and the ancient megalithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
—New Insight Experiences, including a Dine-at-Home dinner with the Willoughby family at Birdsall House in Yorkshire, England; a visit to Castel Gandolfo, the Pope’s summer palace; and a farm-to-table dinner paired with local wines in Bordeaux.
—Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the World War II D-Day landings, and clients can explore historical sites related to this event on either the “Normandy, Brittany & the Loire Valley” or “French Heritage” guided journeys.
INTREPID TRAVEL - A new category of 90 affordable tours was created for 18- to 29-year-olds.
—A new Wildlife Rangers Expedition in Kenya offers behind-the-scenes access to game drives and foot patrols.
— “Solomon Islands Expedition,” including visits to WWII battle theaters; “China: Great Wall Hike, Bike & Kung Fu”; “Japan: Land of the Snow Monkeys”; “Argentina Expedition”; “Cruising the Seychelles Islands”; “Turkey Winter Discovery”; and “Trekking the Appalachian Trail.”
—Intrepid has become the world’s largest travel B-Corp, a designation recognizing adherence to environmental standards.
LUXURY GOLD - Fifty-five enhanced luxury guided “Journeys Beyond the Ordinary” tours to such destinations as Great Britain, Ireland, Russia and the Pacific Northwest; emphasis is placed on personalization and exclusivity.
ROCKY MOUNTAINEER—Four new packages, including Sunshine Village (in Banff National Park) drive/rail, Kananaskis drive/ rail, Canmore drive/rail and a Clouds Mountain Adventures with heli-hiking/rail.
UNITED VACATIONS - The carrier recently started offering nonstop flights from the U.S. to Tahiti, with several packages available to the islands.
